Opportunity knocks once

2019 is a significant year for Huawei, and we don't mean just the political storm. As announced back in 2015, the company chose Leuven as the headquarters of its European Research Institute, managing all of the Europe’s research centers and reporting directly to China. This year, the growth of the ERI accelerates. The challenge: hire 50 people in a niche market by the end of the year.

What is the niche we are talking about? Huawei is much more than the smartphones we know them for. The main focus of this telecom giant is delivering the solutions of the future, and the role of the ERI team in Leuven is researching the technologies that will be in use in the next 5-10 years. Are you getting the thrills yet?

Water shapes itself to the vessel

What is it like to work for an Asian corporation located in the heart of Europe? The management, which is made in equal parts of people of Chinese, Belgian, and other European nationalities, put focus on adapting to the Belgian way of working. They are keen on investing in the well-being of the employees - there are showers in the office so you can go running in the Jezuietenpark, and then restore your energy reserves with the fresh fruit delivered to the office.

With that being said, you will surely notice some of the things that are typically seen as part of the Chinese work culture: from the proverbial politeness, through flexibility and openness to negotiation, to the famous Chinese open-space offices. And one more thing, don't be surprised if you cannot find your boss after lunch. S/he is probably just taking a nap.

Do you have a curious mind of a researcher, preferably proven with your PhD? Are you result-driven and fascinated by the future technologies? If the answer is yes, check out the open positions at Huawei ERI in Leuven, it is an opportunity you cannot afford to miss!
